Sparky Gets A Second Chance!!

Sparky

Hi Mag!!

Attached is a picture of precious Sparky. We got an email from a Boulder shelter that he was going to be euthanized the following morning if IMPS could not take him. Luckily, we were able to spring this sweet little man and get him off death row!! He has the most adorable personality and everyone who has met him has fallen for him. He was posted on our web site for less than 24 hours when we were contacted by Holly in Thornton, CO. She was looking for a companion for her sweet Penny they adopted from us a year and a half ago.

This little 9 year old has lots of livin' left to do and we're so happy he has found his "Happily Ever After" with his wonderful new family!! Looks like he has already made himself at home and he and Penny keep a watchful eye on their neighborhood!

Giz, Bear, Leroy

Hi Mag,

Just a couple weeks ago, we posted a picture of our foster Little Bear, the sweet little man we placed in the wonderful home of Dawn Ann and Rob here in Colorado last June. Well, like they say about potato chips.."Ya can't have just one.. OR TWO!" On Super Bowl Sunday they added their 2nd IMPS kid (and third min pin boy) to their family!! Pictured in the foreground is Leroy, in the middle is Bear and in the back is their newest addition.. Gizmo! What a lucky boy he is!

Zak in Robe

Hiya Mag!

The attached are pictures of Zak, who was adopted back east through IMPS. He and his Mommy (Karen) were volunteers with IMPS in New York and now live and volunteer in Colorado. This lucky little man splits his time between chic Lower Downtown Denver ("LoDo") and gorgeous Vail! What a lucky duck! Since volunteering with us here in CO their little family has grown, with the adoption of Mustafa (Karen has joined the FFC.."Foster Failure Club"). She promises to email pictures of the boys together .. when she can get them to both sit STILL! LOL!

Colorado Buddy

Buddy (Marley), Totsy

Hi Mag!

Here is an update on our little min pin that was dumped on our property a few months back. Matt found him, we named him Marley, listed him on the local humane web site for 2 weeks and he was never claimed. He became an IMPS boy and was fostered by my Sister and Kiwi in law here in Loveland. Callie and John came up from Montbello to meet him (with their Jack Russell named Totsy) and I think Callie could not resist his sweet face. At first, Totsy was not so keen on Mama loving on another dog, but once they got home and put in the yard together, it was on! He is now named Buddy and is in the most loving, wonderful home. He and Totsy are the best of friends and they keep Mama and Daddy in stitches, I'm sure. Attached is a picture.

Keena

Hi Mag,

Attached are a couple of pictures of beautiful Keena. Her proud Daddy (Don) drove from St George, UT to Oceanside, CA to adopt this little beauty. It was well worth the drive, as she and her new family are head over heels for each other. Thank you everyone in the IMPS CA Region for working with us and creating another Happily Ever After. :o)

Maxx

Hi Mag!

Here is a great picture of sweet Maxx, our Wyoming Cowboy!!! We placed him with Peg and Tim a year ago and he is livin' the good life in Cheyenne, WY. Although not a big fan of the horses, he is one happy boy on the 4wheeler with Daddy and the rest of his 4 legged siblings! He is a very sensitive and soulful little man and we're so happy he is so loved and pampered!

Warmy Blankie Time

Hi Mag,

As I pulled the dog blankets out of the dryer, I sang our Rusty's favorite song, "It's Warmy Blankie Time".. he comes running every time. As they hit the rug, he is snuggled in and will exit only when they've cooled.. then I'm allowed to fold them and put them up.. LOL

Oliver

Hi Mag,

Here's some pics from CO,WY,UT IMPS. I caught Oliver, my second foster, winking. But he made me a member of the FFC, I can't let him go. I got him a longer bed since he outgrew his first one though he's actually the last in line to get a nap in it. His foster sister, Flan, is on the bottom here. Hard to tell, but they are truly lovers. He can do other things, but she hates to be separated from him. Thanks for posting, Laura

Meet Cass!

Cassie

Hi Mag!

Just wanted to pass along a couple of pictures of the newest addition to our little family.. Meet Casanova! Thanks to Harold (a dear friend to IMPS as well as many other rescues) and PAWS Doberman Rescue in OK, Matt and I are now the proud Mommy and Daddy to this amazing, 10 month old red dobie. He is the biggest love bug we've ever met and we couldn't be happier. He gets along just fine with the min pins (Rusty and Maria) as well as our husky, Dakota and Max, the bull/mastiff lab. The larger dogs are both about 10 years old and we think Cass brings out the puppy in them. :o)

Thanks for letting me share!

Happy Holidays!

Chance and Beanie

Tue, 18 Dec 2007 19:28:49 -0700 - from Melissa

Chance

Hi Mag!

Attached are pictures of a beloved IMPS boy named Chance and his brother, Beanie. Chance has a wonderful rescue story (this handsome red head was literally on his final hour before being pulled off death row in a shelter in Cortez). Our volunteer team here in CO (and the facility workers that were desperate to save him) really pulled off a great save with this sweet little man. I would tell you all more but I'm hoping his submission will be in our 2008 IMPS Calendar, so we'll all have to buy one to read about it! :o) If he isn't a calendar boy this year, I'll be sure to write back and give the details! :o)

What I will divulge is that he and Beanie are very much loved by his Mommy and Daddy (Karen and Rod) in Parker.. these boys are living the good life.. and they deserve it!

Thank you for letting me share and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Sincerely,
Melissa

Flan... before and after

Wed, 9 Jan 2008 11:23:18 -0700 - from Laura

BEFORE:

Flan

Flan

Flan

AFTER:

It took Flannery only 14 weeks to make these changes. She dropped 11 pounds and went from having to take a nap in the grass after walking DOWN three flights of stairs to running, climbing, wrestling non-stop and she is FAST. She ate a Calorie Control diet from Waltham prescribed by the vet and got lots of exercise. She is down to 1 unit of insulin one time a day!!!! (And she's a foster dog...I think...)

Flan

Flan

Flan

She still has some fat pockets around her joints and wrinkly skin, but that's on the way off, too. This is her "little" brother, Oliver, who deserves much credit for running her ragged and helping her reduce.

Flan's Family Pic

Mon, 25 Feb 2008 01:36:59 -0700 - from Laura

Flan and his new family

Flannery came to CO IMPS in Oct. courtesy of our truck driver/rescuer friend, Harold. She was homeless, double her normal weight, diagnosed as diabetic and on 12 units of insulin. She couldn't stand to eat her dinner, only ate a couple pieces of food at a time, and had to rest after going out to pee. She also showed a lot of defensive and stress related behaviors. Her first few years on earth were abusive and neglectful. But in just three months, she lost all her excess weight, gained muscle, a lot of stamina with great vet care from Dr. Jeri, and got down to just 1 unit of insulin a day. She attracted many viewers through Petfinders, but nobody inquired further, they probably didn't want to adopt a "diabetic" dog -- until Mary and Mike read her story. They have Sampson, the 12 years young black and tan Min Pin, and Mya, the lab, and room for one more. They opened their home and hearts to the red Min Pin who became Jessie Melanson! Finally -- a forever home. And she couldn't be happier. You go, Jessie! SO many people have helped her on the way to where she's at and god bless the angels named Mike and Mary.

In Loving Memory:
Missy - January 30th, 2008

Wed, 30 Jan 2008 15:27:28 -0700 - from Shannon

Missy

We wanted to let you all know that our dog, Missy, passed away this morning. She suffered a serous seizure last night, and spent the night at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital. Through the night she continued to have seizures, and her condition failed to improve in response to medication. She never fully regained consciousness, and she was euthanized this morning.

Those of you who knew Missy know what a remarkable little dog she was. We don't know exactly how old she was, but she had a very rough start to life, with the scars to prove it. In early 2003 she was picked up and sent to the Denver Municipal Animal Shelter. There she was described as emaciated and vicious, and was scheduled to be put down, but just in time she was released to the local branch of the Internet Miniature Pinscher Service.

After some time spent in foster care and an unsuccessful adoption, she ended up with us on July 12th, 2003. If you knew her then, you already know that she didn't always take kindly to strangers. Her early experience in life had made her very fearful of people (especially men), but she quickly warmed up. As her trust grew, her love of affection grew with it. If you knelt down on the floor for a few moments, she would hop onto your calves and nestle into the space behind your knees. After a meal, she loved to pick a new guest and jump up on their lap at the table.

If there were a Dog Olympics, Missy would be remembered as the greatest high jumper in the history of the dog world, a fact that can be confirmed by anyone who has ever come to our front door. Soon enough we learned that she could jump up onto a 36" high counter and eat whatever was up there: a entire baguette, a large bowl of hash browns, or a pound of dark chocolate (which led to her first overnight stay at the hospital). She could also jump right over our 4' chain link fence, and did, many times. She was never gone long, usually she'd look around the neighbor's yard for a little while, then come right back to the front door to be let in.

Missy had the heart of a dog ten times her size. She was truly a dog's dog. She was fiercely loyal, brave, affectionate, and she ate every meal as if it were her last. She always hated to say goodbye, and now we do too. We will miss her.

We have put up a little set of some of our favorite photos here: http://flickr.com/photos/superbad/sets/72157603825281869/

If you have any photos of your own, we'd love to see them. And if you wish to, a donation to IMPS in her name would be a fitting and welcome tribute: http://www.minpinrescue.org/

Our Handsome Boy

Rusty

Hiya Mag,

I came across this photo of our Rusty and had to share. Isn't he handsome?! He just had a bath and was posing for the camera! He was our first attempt at fostering for IMPS, but we couldn't let him go.. he made us a member of the FFC (Foster Failure Club) ~ Rocky Mtn Chapter.. LOL. He came to us bone thin with toe nails curled under and was quite a site. Like so many other wonderful IMPS babies, he has blossumed into an amazing little man and, 5 years later, we couldn't imagine life without him. Our b&t min pin (princess) Maria bosses him around but is his constant compadre. :o)

Hiya Mag!

This was just too cute not to pass along. Our min pins (Rusty and Maria) looking either way while our darling foster girl (Cocoa) smiles down at me. The 3 were tearing through the house looking for their next great adventure and stopped long enough for me to snap a picture.
