Lady and Angel

Sun, 8 Feb 2004 11:25:14 -0500 - from Nicole & David

Lady

Just wanted to let everyone know how happy we are to be with IMPS. Our first foster baby was Lady. She was surrendered to a high kill shelter by her former owners. They didn't want her anymore. She was skin & bones when we got her. After much TLC she was starting to gain weight. Well, being foster parents and having a soft spot in our hearts for furbabies and our min pin Angel getting attached, Lady became a part of our family on December 25, 2003. She has done nothing but flourish since we have had her. You will notice in this pic that she and Angel are big buddies. They have matching doggie beds that stay in our office beside a heater vent that they love... They can always be found together. If you can't find them, just look for one and the other is not far behind.

Just wanted to let you know about our first foster baby that turned into our first foster failure. It is like the potato chip commercial, "You can't have just one."

Mansford needs some help

Tue, 29 Jun 2004 22:13:02 -0400 - from David and Nicole

Mansford

Hi Guys & Gals,

I have spoke with my regional coordinator, Connie, and got appoved to post and ask for help.

Last Monday (06-21-04), Kentucky was notified of an older min pin, Manfred, in Paris PAWS (Paris Animal Welfare Service) that needed some help. He was a owner turn in. The owner could not afford his bills. So we said we could take him. The shelter arranged it so that he could have his dental & neutering done before coming to us. We agreed to pick him up on Friday (06-25-04) if they had cleared him of NO kennel cough. They guaranteed me that he had been checked over by a vet and there was no kennel cough. So, he was neutered, teeth done, given shots, heartworm tested (negative) and cleared for us. I showed up on Friday to pick him up. I picked up a 11 year old with 11 less teeth. I asked if he had been cleared, meaning no kennel cough, to travel and they said yes. I got almost home and learned that he was coughing some. I spoke with my vet, gave her his background, and she said without seeing him it sounded like maybe a throat irritation from being sedated so long for the dental. His dental was done on Thursday, the day before I picked him up, so I figured he just had not had time to recoup from the surgery. She said that if it was throat irritation is should be gone in about 2 - 3 days. She said to just watch him, keep him on the antiboticis, and if it got worse to bring him to her. On Monday, it got worse. He started coughing really deep & hard. So Tuesday (06-29-04) I took him in to see Dr Hubbard, my vet. My husband is an EMT and said that his lungs now sounded wet where they did not on Friday. Dr Hubbard confirmed that his lungs were wet and he now has Kennel Cough. Now, the ones I have are all perfectly healthy and have been given all their shots. So anyway, this poor baby is now on so much meds, he doesn't know if he is coming or going.

Mansford

The reason I post this is because I need some help for him. With the dentist pulling 11 of his teeth, his dental charge alone was $205. It cost us $65 to pull him, that included all shots, heartworm & neutering. It cost $20 for the Interceptor for heartworm preventative (he tested negative), $5 for Avid registration (microchip was included in the $65 rescue charge) and today cost us another $75.50 for shots & meds. So for all you math wizzes, Mansford's new vet bill is up to $371. The reason I am doing this is because for those of you who have had experience with older dogs, you know that their vet bills can get outrageous. If you know of anyway that we could help to offset some of his bills, we would greatly appreciate it. I will send his pics to Mag for her to post so that everyone can see this sweet face and maybe that will help. I also forgot to mention that since he is missing 11 teeth, 9 of them on top including molars for chewing, that is now on a slightly watered dog food diet. If you could find it in your heart to just help this baby a little, it would be greatly appreciated. Carla, in KY, did a fundraiser earlier for t-shirts and things. If you still want to contact her and have something made and donate the money in Mansford's name, he would greatly appreciate that. All help be it $1 or $100 will be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to make a donation to defray the cost of his vet bill, please send to:
   IMPS, Inc. - Mansford
   P.O. Box 15305
   Clearwater, FL 33766-5305
   - Please make checks payable to IMPS

Sorry this is so long, but Connie wanted you to get the whole story of this baby.

Thanks for listening and reading.

Tribute to Max

Mon, 13 Jun 2005 19:12:47 EDT - from Connie

Max

I got Max one year ago this month. He was 4 years old. He came from an abusive situation. He was scared to death and bit me several times out of fear when I first handled him. With much patience and persistence, we won Max over. He loved to snuggle with all of us. He got to the point that he would even go to strangers and jump in their lap. (after a few minutes warm up) Pam Sutton can tell you how he jumped in her husband's lap and just sat there. We almost fainted!

I never thought he would be adopted. He was a good example of bad breeding. He was just always weird and so ugly he was cute. He had bug eyes and huge ears. His potty habits never got better. He would pee and poop where ever he felt the need. He was just too cute to scold. When he knew you were upset with him, he would wiggle his little nub so hard that he wagged his whole body.

Then one day out of the blue, an angel came along. (you all know the type.) She fell in love with him for the same reasons that I loved him. She overlooked his flaws.

Just a month after Danielle adopted him, he got sick. She had tests run and learned from her vet that he had a congenital heart defect that was causing him to go into heart failure. His liver was also already very damaged. There was no hope for improvement. His liver wouldn't tolerate the heart medication. They had no choice but to let nature take it's course. Today I received word that Max is in a better place and no longer has any pain. Danielle loved him for 6 months ...he was her little punky nose, her baby, spoiled and pampered.

I have posted my favorite picture of him - it captures his personality. He was always scared but too curious and mischevious to leave things alone. He was Max, Maxi doodle, Cutiepie Max. My heart aches. He joins my Honey, Brandy, Sockie and my fosters Teeny and Cita. Please say a prayer for Danielle and her Mom. Their hearts are aching as well.

Thanks,
Connie :(

Holly and her new family

Thu, 14 Jul 2005 20:30:16 EDT - from Connie

Holly

Some adoptions we just have to brag about. Mr. Bonini is 90 years young but in perfect health and very active. (still drives and gets around better than I do!) His daughter of course, is going to be helping with Holly's care but Eugene is the major cuddler. Holly jumped right up in his lap... followed him everywhere and KNEW she was home.

Here are some pics of Carol and Eugene and Holly!

Thanks, Connie :)

Gracie

Hi Mag,

Can you please post pictures of my new puppy. Gracie, on the saluki site? We adopted her from a shelter in central Indiana. She is the sweetest little girl. At 12 weeks, she weighs a whoping 6 pounds. Look at the heart on her forehead...that was sent from my Shiloh.

I am sure Gracie will be thinking she is a minpin in no time!

Hugs and blessings,
Connie :)

Shaq

Mon, 25 Sep 2006 09:11:09 EDT - from Katie

Hi Mag,

Here is a letter and some pictures of Shaq adopted by Tracie R while I was still in Kentucky. Shaq was my first IMPS foster and Tracie has always kept in touch once in awhile thru ut the years. Hard to believe this adoption was about 10 years ago? I thought you may like it for the web site.

Best wishes
Katie

Shaq

Hi Katie!

It is so good to hear from you! I will make a visit to the eBay auction and forward it to my friends and fellow Min Pin lovers. I though I would update you on Shaq. He is still my wonderful little boy who follows me every step! I always sing that song "Love Shack" to him and it is set as my ring tone when people call my cell phone. Not too long ago I bought him a pair of Doggles sunglasses since he loves to dress up and I didn't know if he would wear them or not, but turns out he loves them! He wears them a lot and everyone we see gets such a kick out of him! He is my prince charming! I will attach some pictures for you to see. He turned 12 in July and is doing great! We had to have a few small cancerous tumors removed last year but he healed really fast and is doing wonderful. Thank you so much again for bringing us together! I think of you so often. Hope things are well with you and your family.

Your friends,
Tracie and Shaq

Kyniska and Drizzt

Wed, 9 Jul 2008 22:05:41 -0400 - from Bert

Drizzt, Kyniska

Hi!!! I adopted a wonderful boy from IMPS last year. I named him Drizzt. We have had nothing but love and joy since the day he came home. Fast forward to last Saturday, July 5th, when Julianna (foster mom in Lexington) brought us Tipper (now named Kyniska). She is a beautiful stag red min pin with only three legs. Drizzt actually picked her. She has settled in with Drizzt and me, as if she has always been here!

I wanted to thank IMPS for saving both my babies so I can experience unconditional joy and love everyday!!!! The three of us are so happy, and IMPS has a lot to do with that!

Attached are pics of both my babies!!!

Bug

Wed, 15 Jul 2009 15:11:14 -0700 (PDT) - from Juliana

Hi Mag,
Attached is a pic of Linus/Bug #18797 who came into IMPS last year as a tiny pup and is now all grown up.
Thanks,

Juliana

Bug and his brothers

Hi Juliana,

Bug has finished his novice training and is now going on into advanced.. I take him with me everywhere. Yesterday we went into Lowe's and he had a wonderful time being petted by everyone in there.

I've attached a picture of him with his brothers. He wants to know if you can post it on your website since he is an "attention hog," We love Bug - he sleeps with us everynight and is the cuddlest dog imaginable - and SMART too! Once he finishes his Good Citizenship training we'll start seeing if we can get him involved with volunteer work since he loves giving kisses and getting hugs.

Thanks again,
LaMoria
