Cinder,Kathy,Penny

Cinder (with the pink collar) went home with her new "sister" Penny and her new mom, Kathy today. It was about 98 degrees when we met at the park but everyone seemed very pleased and the dogs played nicely together.

The 1st MD/VA Regional Microchip party

Sat, 24 Aug 2002 16:04:08 -0700 (PDT) - from Betty

Chaos!

Mag,

Here are some pictures of the first MD/VA Regional Microchip party. Heather got the first batch of MicroChips from Avid. The kit included Video tape instructions. We offered Volunteers the MicroChips first and we are starting to Microchip fosters.

Chaos!

Volunteer Vicki R. hosted the party, complete with delicious food! We ate and let the dogs run around and get aquainted.

Heather, Betty and Trevor

We all learned how to microchip. Heather and I did the dogs that needed chipping.

All the dogs were real troopers. Here we show volunteer Michael's dog, Trevor, being chipped, by Heather and myself.

Michael,Trevor

Shannon,Tally

Here is Volunteer, Shannon and her pin Tally, saying it wasn't so bad after all! All dogs were given treats for being so good.

A pretty successful day.

Brag: MD adoptions!

Fri, 6 Sep 2002 18:22:41 -0700 (PDT) - from Betty

Mag,

We had two great MD adoptions this week, so I want to brag a little.

Jack and Vincent

The first was done by Volunteers Vicki R. and Shannon H. They placed Jack with Vincent. They are a perfect match! Vincent was so excited.

Max, Roisin, Michelle

The second was when I placed my foster, Max. He was adopted by Roisin M. and her mother Michelle. Roisin did all the adoption work herself, all emails, all research. This is a great match.

Charlie update

Tue, 11 Feb 2003 12:15:50 -0500 - from Heather

I just received this from a wonderful adoptive family in Pittsburgh.. J.D.

Charlie

Dear J.D.,

We wanted to send you an update about Charlie. He is such a sweetie! He is the favorite of the whole family. He grew quite a lot and became even stronger, but keeping his shape well. NO CARBOHYDRATES --- NO MERCY!!! He has a lot of energy anyway. I see him already roaming in the air, running around fast as a cannonball. He started the obedience school and he is doing well. We have a great instructor. We are working with positive reinforcement only, and with the clicker method. He is very smart, but has his own ideas sometimes --- he is not a German shepherd. Our two girls love him also, even the one that got kicked out of her "puppy-position" in the family. She was hoping for a while, that we will serve Charlie for dinner one evening, but it didn't happen, so she gave in and leaned to like him also. Now she is wagging her tail while playing with him hours long.

So everything is wonderful! We want to thank you again that you helped us find this cheerful little pup. Our days are so much more fun with him!

I'm sending a few photos to you also.

Thank you for your care,

The Fehers

Lisa's Crew

Hi Mag-
Please post this picture of my crew. Our newest addition is Trooper - a minpin left to starve in an adandoned home in Maryland, 2 weeks no food or water. A kind woman found him and hand-fed him for several weeks and called us. We have had him for about a month and ½. He is one of the sweetest and happiest babies I have ever seen. He's a keeper and his health is improving every day.
Thank you.

Izzy

Mon, 10 Nov 2003 15:21:53 -0500 - from Linda

Mag, can you please put this picture of Izzy on our website. She was adopted by Denise M. and has a terrier sister named Biscuit. Isn't she the cutest?

Izzy

Hi Linda

She loves her blanki, sometimes carrying it around the house. I usually put it in her crate but later find it all sorts of places -- sometimes with her under it. I have to get a picture of her with it. We all snuggle in bed together at night -- Izzy under the covers with me.

I can't stop giving her kisses. Soooo cute.

Just got back from Petsmart. Got her a fleece coat. Do you put coat on your minis? She seemed cold when we took our walk last night. She doesn't seem to like the cold weather.

She and Biscuit have really started playing together the past few days. Chasing each other and playing with toys. Does my heart good to see them both enjoying each other.

Pups are resting next to me now -- one on each side.

Tomorrow will be the first day back to work for me since Izzy came home. I have left her up to 5 hours so far. I plan to have the gate up restricting both pups to the lower level with pet door. Izzy broke out once but I think I may not have had it secure enough. Any words of wisdom?

Take care. Hope you feel better soon. I'm sure minis are lavishing you with love

DAVEY the minpin

Fri, 26 Dec 2003 12:42:34 -0800 - from Kara

Davey

they asked me to translate....

Hi everybody!

It's been three months now that I've been with my forever family and let me tell you I am a lucky boy!! Mommy loves to take pictures of me and tries not to spoil me too much. She says everyone wants to know how I'm doing so I have to stay still for her pictures (that's really hard for me) cause I love to play!!!

Mom says, that for someone who likes to play as much as I do I'm not really nice to other doggies my size (or bigger than me or smaller than me for that matter), but that's ok cause my mom and dad never put me down. I think they love to play too.

I get all the luxuries of an only dog like: picking wherever I want to sleep in the bed, whatever I want to eat at breakfast and dinner (If I don't like what's left in the cupboard mom and dad make a special trip to get me whatever I want), and a full time play parent. Oh yeah, and I got alot of christmas presents with toys and stuff.

Like mommy said before I don't like other dogs, kids, or strangers. She thinks someone was REALLY mean to me before, I think she's right. I haven't mastered the art of going to the bathroom outside yet but mom keeps telling dad "any day now, any day now" they just keep a really close watch on me and take me outside every couple of hours and waits til I do my business, I can't get away with nothin' ;( My mom also says I haven't quite mastered the art of behaving, but she's willing to work with me. I think It's my stunning good looks, no one can resist this face. She keeps trying to take me to obedience classes but I keep getting us kicked out 'cause I like to bite and I like to be the boss. They don't go for that stuff in obedience class. Well I'll write soon my paws are getting tired.

Mom will send more pics soon.

Love,
Davey

Success Story: Sherman, Daisy Mae & Sugar

Tue, 24 Feb 2004 21:21:31 -0500 - from Warren & Paula

Sugar,Sherman,Daisy Mae

Hello,

I wanted to add my min pins to the Success Page. We now have 3 min pins! It all started with a baby boy min pin named Sherman that my husband and I purchased from a co-worker. He was spoiled rotten for the first few years of his life, then we thought maybe he'd like a buddy. I find Min Pin Rescue and started searching........we came across Daisy Mae (from MD), our first adoption! All the fuss we went through that morning - you'd thought we were adopting a human baby! So finally on 9/16/00 we had ourselves a baby girl min pin.

Things were fine for a few more years until I decided to "surf" Min Pin Rescue - just to look at the cuties - but of course I came across a chocolate min pin named Sugar (from PA) and I had always wanted a chocolate min pin so I emailed to ask a few questions (thinking everyone would want her - no way would we have a shot!) Well, a few days later (on 1/11/03) we were on our way to PA to pick up our second baby girl min pin!

It's been over a year now with our family of 3 min pins - wouldn't give them up for anything and would do it all over again if given the chance. My husband and I laugh endlessly at our little "characters" and each have their very own personality - you've just got to love them! Sadly some day we'll have to say good-bye and again my husband will be watching nervously as I "surf" for our next fur baby - but I think we have plenty of time - Sherman will be 8 this year, Daisy Mae and Sugar will be 5 - plenty of time to enjoy our fur babies!

My husband and I would like to thank all the folks that care and take the time and effort to find wonderful homes for all those little fur babies that need someone to love and take care of them.

Trooper

Sun, 29 Aug 2004 18:58:22 EDT - from Lisa and Tommy

Last summer a dog was found abandoned in a house in Maryland. He had been there at least 2 weeks and almost starved to death. A woman and her husband took him home but couldn't keep him and called IMPS. He needed a foster home and I couldn't get him off my mind so I talked to my husband and we agreed to foster him. We picked him up and I cried the whole way home because he looked so pitiful and I couldn't imagine why anyone would put this baby through something so terrible. The woman had already nursed him back to life for a week but he was still very weak and fragile. We didn't know if he would make it but I thought at least his last days would be comfortable and he would be safe.

Well it's been a year - he is now a permanent member of the family and we named him Trooper because he is one. He is so special, funny and sweet . Watching him blossum has been an awesome gift. We have 3 other minpins and love them all very much. Here are Trooper's before and after pictures. Thank you IMPS!

2005 Update on Sherman, Daisy Mae & Sugar

Tue, 15 Mar 2005 15:35:34 -0500 - from Paula

Sherman, Daisy Mae, Sugar

Please post the attached beautiful "oil painting" of Sherman, Daisy Mae & Sugar.
Sherman is in the red harness, Daisy Mae in the green harness, and Sugar in the purple harness.

Well, it's been over a year since our last update on Sherman, Daisy Mae & Sugar.
We've now had Daisy Mae (our 1st adopted girl thru IMPS MD) since September 2000. Daisy Mae was 6 in February.
We've now had Sugar (our 2nd adopted girl thru IMPS PA) since January 2003. Sugar will be 6 in April.
Of course Sherman was our first boy (not an IMPS baby) and will be 9 in October - wow - I can't believe it!

Our 3 are still totally entertaining and I'd be lonely without them! They are all spoiled rotten (I blame my husband - he blames me) but I'd have it no other way.......they're my furbabies and they deserve the best. I've even had an "oil painting" done of them - it's gorgeous as you can see!

I also started a Min Pin group if anyone would like to share ideas, stories, etc. with our group, here's the link:

http://www.care2.com/c2c/group/MinPins.

Hope all furbabies are happy and loved!

Fendi and Scarlett

Thu, 14 Apr 2005 09:08:41 -0400 - from Linda

Fendi

Hi Mag,

Attached are 2 pictures for our website. The first is of Fendi, The Princess of all Min Pins. The second is of my foster failure, Scarlett. I was at the Chantilly, VA Pet Expo where I had their bandanas made and talked to about 100 people about IMPS -- it was a kick and I plan to do it again next year -- hopefully some of our volunteers will also attend -- Fendi is just the Princess and was very much into walking, sniffing, meeting and greeting people and dogs. Scarlett, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with anyone but me and kept begging me to pick her up -- I finally bought a pup transport and strapped it on -- put her in it and she promptly fell asleep -- she is just a dear dear soul who is so attached to me -- she reminds me of my Rambo -- the same kind of unconditional love -- she, as Rambo, has eyes only for me. I have such overwhelming love for these 2 IMPS girls!

Thanks for what you do!

Scarlett

Jack's Happy Ending

Thu, 14 Jul 2005 11:48:56 -0700 (PDT) - from Lisa via Betty

Jack is a great dog and he is the number 1 dog that my friends and the kids remember and still ask about. He seems to be one of the favorite fosters

Jack Jack Jack Jack Jack Jack

His story:

Jack was found at a cemetery in West Virginia during a very frigid 1-2 weeks in October of 2004. A kind woman tried for a week to catch him and couldn't get him to come to her. He was terrified so she left him food and some boxes to have shelter. She wouldn't give up on him and the last night before he was caught she went back for him at 10:30 and midnight. She finally opened the door of her van and had hot dogs waiting for him and he ran right in to the crate. He was cage agressive and very scared. She called IMPS and his foster parents took him home and tried to coax him out of a corner in the laundry room for about an hour. Finally he ran into the yard but wouldn't let anyone near him until he saw the other minpins in the home. Instantly he transformed and calmed down. They named him Jack for Halloween and picked the ticks off of him and got rid of his fleas and took him to the vet. With love and patience he became a wonderful dog and was finally placed with a family in PA who didn't give up on him either. Jack had been placed once and came back to rescue. The family in PA kept tabs on him and asked to adopt him as soon as he was available.
Jack loves his new family and gets to go to the beach during the summer and hang out on the boat. He loves traveling-whether by land or sea and is a very happy dog. What a great success story for Jack-because no-one gave up on him.

Diamond, Ella, Truffles

Mag-

Please post in Maryland. Diamond (the black and tan minpin) was adopted several years ago and now has a sister (the chocolate minpin). IMPS recently got "Truffles" from a retired breeder. She had not been vetted in years-her teeth were black and she needed to be spayed. She is about 8 years old. She is doing very well now and has a wonderful home with her mom Ella and sister Diamond.
Just wanted to share-
